Reception
A TV swivels their head 180 degrees to face you, then simultaneously revolves the rest of themself and wheel-scoots their chair over to the reception desk to speak to you. It seems the TV's little office opens up into both the lobby and the commissary. It's a small enough base that they must have to do double-duty as receptionist and quartermaster. A nameplate on the reception desk tells you their name is Seifar.
"I've just arrived here," you tell Seifar. "And I wasn't given much of a briefing. What should I know?"
"You should know," begins Seifar, stretching a little like a cat, "to take your time. I realise that's an unusual thing for a TV to say–" TVs are known for being blunt and brusque and for getting right to the point. "–but this is a slow little base. You'll get the best experience if you take your time, move slowly, and explore. Enjoy wandering and getting lost for a while."
"…Alright, but what do I actually do here?" you reply. "Where should I go, what should I do first?"
"Minimal briefing means minimal obligations," replies Seifar. By TV standards, this is annoyingly cryptic.
"Ask me one question at a time, please."
You might want to ask Seifar about:
the outpost itself
"It's primarily a TV outpost, as you've doubtless surmised," says Seifar. "Though we frequently do have postings from other factions."
"Why did it get to be called Voidwalkers?" you ask.
"There's something strange about the void near here," says Seifar. "You still can't enter it if you're not a TV, but there is a sort of veil through which you can observe it. That's what the void observatory outside is built around."
the reception
"…You're standing in it now," says Seifar.
the commissary
"The commissary acts as the place to receive new assignments and pick up the rewards upon completion," says Seifar. "I work there as both Quartermaster and Base Commander, in addition to being the receptionist."
"But we're both right here already," you point out. "Can't I pick up assignments from here?" Seifar's office opens up to both reception and commissary.
"Absolutely fucking not," says Seifar. "We might be a small outpost but we do things properly."
the library
"Head there if you want some light reading," says Seifar. "Or some porn."
the archives
"That's where we keep everything that doesn't fit anywhere else," explains Seifar. "All sorts of bits and pieces and miscellanea in there."
the vaults
"That's where we store precious things," says Seifar. "Things we aren't likely to need for a long time, or ever, but which we don't want to get rid of. Also, my friend Mortice works there. They might be glad of the company."
the nightclub
"That's where you'll usually find any soundkind stationed at this base," explains Seifar. "If music's your idea of a good time, maybe you should spend some time there."
outside
"There's the void observatory," says Seifar. "Which is how our outpost got its name. And we're a bit closer to the bonefields than I'd like, but that's the way it goes. They're… strangely beautiful, in their own way, I suppose. But don't go close."
Go back to the lobby.
